PDS™ Antibacterial Violet Monofilament (Polydioxanone) Absorbable Surgical Suture, 2-0, 27", SH is a sterile, synthetic, absorbable monofilament suture engineered to offer extended wound support while minimizing bacterial colonization. It is composed of polydioxanone and coated with triclosan, an antibacterial agent designed to reduce the risk of surgical site infections by inhibiting bacterial growth on the suture surface.

The monofilament structure provides smooth tissue passage and low tissue reactivity. Its violet color enhances visibility during placement. The suture retains approximately 80% of its tensile strength at 2 weeks, 70% at 4 weeks, and 60% at 6 weeks, supporting prolonged tissue approximation in high-tension areas during the critical healing phase.

Complete mass absorption occurs within 183 to 238 days through hydrolytic degradation. This gradual resorption minimizes the need for removal and reduces foreign body presence in tissue over time, making it appropriate for both deep and superficial closures in soft tissue surgeries.
